For 20 years William Grant nurtured a dream to make the 'best dram in the valley'. With the help of his family, he finally achieved that vision. In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and to daughters by his side, William set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition. Together they began building his Distillery by hand, stone by stone. After a single year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for Valley of the Deer.

    My partner is an avid whiskey drinker, a big fan of the drink and unique flavours. I got this as a five year Anniversary present for him and to say he loved it was an understatement. Never has the reaction to a gift made me feel quite so special, like I got it perfectly right. His first sip and his eyes lit up, said it was a brilliant taste hit the back of his mouth and then travelled forward and made him feel warm in the chest and full of flavour.     WOW! If you have ever tasted Glenmorangie Signet, this isn't quite as complex, but by golly, for the price it's a fantastic dram from Glenfiddich. I'm not really a fan of Glenfiddich 12 any more and sometimes will dip into the 15yo and 18yo. However, this experimental whisky is just fabulous for the price. Very complex and you can easily nose the complexity of the 20 different casks used in this (17 oak, 2 sherry and 1 port pipe). The sherry cask is quite dominant - and the whisky has some young and older casks within it. On the nose, vanilla, cinnamon, citrus fruits and Christmas cake. Taste: raisins, xmas cake, candied peel, barley sugar, the sherried casks really do come through. The finish is complex and you can certainly taste varying ages used in this blend. At £43 it's a bargain, even at RRP, it's definitely worth the money. Not sure why other reviewers say it has a soapy taste - maybe they just had a bad batch bottling?

    Ich bin sehr positiv von diesem Whisky überrascht. Im Angebot gekauft und zu Hause hingestellt um mal ein Geschenk griffbereit zu haben. Dann jedoch habe ich die vielen positiven Kommentare gelesen und die Flasche letztendlich doch selbst geöffnet.
    Ich habe schon weit über 300 verschiedene Whisk(e)y's verkosten dürfen. Dieser hier nimmt jetzt keinen Spitzplatz ein, aber angesichts des Preises kann man ihn nur wärmstens empfehlen. Ein sehr milder, fruchtiger und süßer Whisky - keine Spur von Bitterkeit bzw. Rauch. Alles sehr ausgewogen und harmonisch. Der Geschmack von reifen Früchten und dunkler Schokolade ist vom Anfang bis zum Abgang durchgehen vorhanden.
    Ich muss gestehen, die Flasche war schneller leer als der Durchschnitt meiner Whiskysammlung. Sogar meiner Frau schmeckt der Whisky. Für Liebhaber milder und "süffiger" Whiskys eine klare Kaufempfehlung!
